"Don't worry, you know I'm here to help," Doug told Mark with a smile on his face. "You know, just because I work with children, doesn't make me any less of a doctor," he added. Then he took a couple of drinks of his coffee. Doug really did feel bad for Mark. He hadn't been home in days, he was exhausted beyond what a doctor should be, little Rachel was growing up without him, and the only intimacy Mark and Elizabeth get is a few minutes in the storage room, when they work the same shift.
Finally Doug let out a sigh and began to speak to Mark once again once his mouth was clear of his coffee. "Say Mark," Doug started as he gave his idea pleanty of thought. "Why don't you go find your wife and take her home and spend a couple of days with Elizabeth and Rachel," he said. "I can handle both our shifts, plus you could use the rest. And if you worried about what Kerry will say," he added. "Then don't be. I will deal with her," he said. "So, what do you say?" he asked.

Doug chuckled a little bit. "And you look like you belong with the dead," he added still chuckling. "Rough night?" he asked him as he took a drink from his coffee. "As for me, well, I have a light case load, which means I can go home early, though I will probably stay just to make sure nothing comes in," he told Mark.

Doug was sitting in the cafe, eating his lunch and reading some new article about some new surgery for children, when he saw Mark walking in. He could tell that Mark was looking a little rough, so when Doug decided to be nice and flag Mark down. "Yo Mark!" Doug yelled with a smile on his face. "You can come sit over here with me," he said as he picked up a couple of fries to eat.
